Cotabato resort runs on renewable energy power sources
A resort in Polomolok, South Cotabato uses renewable energy to power their appliances and facilities, according to a report on GMA’s News to Go.
Because electrical lines in the area don’t reach them, the resort instead uses energy from solar, wind, and hydro sources. According to the resort owner, they’d like to make the use of renewable energy more widespread if they can get help from the local government.
Scientists believe that shifting to a renewable energy sources as opposed to relying on fossil fuels is our best chance of mitigating carbon emissions and avoid the worst effects of climate change.
“The economics have been shifting on both sides of the equation,” said climate change specialist Alden Meyer. “The least-cost global strategy is to rapidly reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and switch into the clean-energy economy.” — Bea Montenegro/TJD, GMA News
