How to hook up your NES console to your smartphone
Good news for gaming and nostalgia junkies: Here's a way to bring back the glory days of the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), right on your smartphone.
Tech site PC World reported developer Dustin Evans managed to connect an old NES console to his phone with a Bluetooth modem, BlueSMiRF, and Arduino.
"Once connected, your phone pulls data from the console, including games and controller commands," PC World said.
It said an Arduino Mega inside the NES console will connect to the BlueSMiRF chip.
Once switched on, the Bluetooth board works by searching and paring with a phone or tablet, thus pairing the console and the mobile device.
"All you need to do now is open up an emulator app and pick your NES game of choice!" it said.
However, PC World said this is still not quite a portable way to play NES games, as a player still needs the console within range of the phone. — TJD, GMA News
