CDRKing vending machines, anyone?

After making gadgets ranging from blank discs to USB thumb drives, what's next for retailer CD-R King? Vending machines, that's what.

No, the company apparently isn't selling the big vending machines, but is using them to sell cheap items like optical mice, Bluetooth dongles and blank discs.

One such machine is now at the company's Technohub branch in Quezon City, tech blog TechNoodling.net reported.

"It’s a gargantuan vending machine with garish blue lighting. The machine accepts both paper bills and coins, and it looks easy to operate. Nobody seemed to want to try it though," it said.

TechNoodling said the machine dispenses cheaper items like P80 optical mice, P150 Bluetooth dongles, P80-120 card readers, memory cards, and blank discs.

Such machines could replace human sales personnel, although it is not clear how the machines could slap on warranty stickers on CD-R King items the way their human counterparts do.

TechNoodling.net said that while it is possible more CD-R King vending machines would be rolled out in the coming weeks in other stores and even at street corners, it "should" also be selling the vending machines too.

"Will CD-R King be selling these vending machines? They probably should. After all, they sell practically everything else, including electric fans, mosquito zappers, fragrant wooden balls, spa oils, vases and knick knacks, paper clips and stationery, massagers and pillows, and…," it said. — TJD, GMA News
