Skype disables Windows Phone 8 app's People Hub integration

Skype is temporarily disabling the integration of its Windows Phone 8 app with the operating system's People Hub due to "stability" issues.

In a blog post, the Microsoft-acquired videoconferencing app maker said it is working with the Windows Phone team to resolve the issue soonest.

"We have also temporarily disabled the People Hub integration as it was causing issues with device stability. We are working with the Windows Phone team to resolve the issue and to enable the integration again in a future release," it said.

For now, Skype released its app for WP 8 Preview 2.1, which improves reliability and performance, especially around background notifications and calling.

The app can be upgraded through the Windows Phone Store, it added.

Skype said the updated app's changes include:
  • Updated chat keyboard with improved autocomplete and autocorrect is now available.

  • Buddies from Windows Live Messenger are labeled in the People list.

  • Added option to enable toast notifications for Windows Live Messenger buddies.

"In some cases, chat messages would appear in incorrect order. Chat messages will now appear in correct order, by timestamp," it added. — TJD, GMA News
