IE 10 now available for Windows 7
Internet Explorer 10, the most advanced version of Microsoft's web browser, is no longer exclusive territory of Microsoft's latest OS Windows 8.
Microsoft on Thursday announced IE 10 is now available for Windows 7, which until now could use only up to version 9 of IE.
“(I)n the coming weeks, more Windows 7 users will have an automatic update to IE10 for a no-compromise and re-imagined Web browsing experience," said Mae Rivera-Moreno, Windows Business Lead of Microsoft Philippines.
Microsoft said this should further expand the reach of IE 10, which is installed on Windows 8. Microsoft claimed more than 60 million Windows 8 licenses have been sold.
Bringing IE 10 to Windows 7 may reach over 700 million Windows customers worldwide, it added.
"IE10 delivers a 20-percent increase in real-world site performance over IE9 making IE10 the fastest modern browser on the market according to third parties," it said.
Deep advancements
Microsoft said IE10’s advancements run deep with a 60-percent increase in supported modern web standards to industry leading security, privacy and reliability.
It is optimized for touch, with tabs, buttons, and toolbars easily accessible.
“Using IE10 on Windows 8 brought a whole new escalation of online and computing experience for users. It is delighting to think that that same experience is now delivered to Windows 7,” said John Pineda, a Microsoft Student Partner from the College of St. Benilde.
He added the HTML5-based browser for Windows 7 lets users simply "enjoy whichever digital lifestyle they have be it gaming, social media, or search. — TJD, GMA News
