Google brings Quickoffice suite to Android, iOS
Here's good news for people on the go and who need to edit and collaborate: Google is bringing the Quickoffice suite of productivity applications to the iPhone and Android devices.
Quickoffice product manager Mark Beaton said Quickoffice, which had been available for iPad, is free for users of Google Apps for Business.
"From Word to Excel to Powerpoint, you can make quick edits at the airport or from the back of a taxi and save and share everything in Google Drive," Beaton said in a blog post.
He also said it is now easier to find and use Drive files from within the Quickoffice app.
Also, he said iPad and iPhone users can "open and edit Office files directly from the Drive app."
A separate article on The Next Web said Quickoffice is meant for business users who need to share files and collaborate with users who don’t yet use Google Docs.
"Google acquired QuickOffice back in June 2012. At the time, QuickOffice offered native apps for iPhone, iPad, Android, and Symbian. We can rule out Symbian, but it makes sense for the company to support both Android and iOS," it said. — TJD, GMA News
