Google celebrates Atari Breakout's 37th bday with playable easter egg
Google this week marked the 37th anniversary of the classic Atari video game "Breakout" with an Easter egg in its Image Search.
Unsuspecting users who typed "Atari Breakout" into the search box in Google's Image Search will see the images morph into blocks that they must smash through with a ball.
The object of the game? Move your paddle left or right to prevent the ball from falling - and have it smash through the blocks.
A separate article on TechCrunch said the original game, which was released in 1976, was heavily influenced by Pong, one of Atari's first video games.
"It’s good to see Google doing these kinds of things away from their normal doodle, especially since a lot of their users might not remember Breakout," it said.
Players who score well could brag about their achievement on Google+, Google's social network. — TJD, GMA News
