Apple releases iOS 7 beta 5, new icons and improvements included


Apple Inc. has released to developers the fifth beta of iOS 7, its upcoming operating system for mobile devices including the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

The latest beta came just a week after iOS 7 beta 4, which had contained relatively minor updates, tech site Mashable reported.

Mashable said a new set of icons appeared to be the initial signs of changes in the latest beta.

"At first blush, you can see new icons for the Settings app and an updated Twitter icon," it said.

Enthusiast site 9to5Mac.com also noted a change in the way camera swipes are activated, along with other tweaks to the Control Center.

  • All Settings icons redesigned
  • More Yahoo presence
  • New Twitter icon
  • Can disable Control Center while in apps
  • Major performance improvements
  • Camera swipe access from Lock screen is easier
  • New slide to power off design
  • New in-call icons
  • Some transparency, blur, UI animation changes
  • Can access icons in a folder during animation
  • Some blurs and effects disabled on iPad mini

Closer to final product

However, Mashable also said the frequent updates indicate the final product is coming out soon.
