Just days after releasing iOS7, Apple rolls out iOS7.0.1 update

Less than a week after releasing a major update to its iOS operating system for mobile devices, Apple over the weekend rolled out an update to fix a fingerprint scanner bug.

Tech site ArsTechnica said Apple released iOS 7.0.1 to allow iTunes purchases to correctly work with fingerprints.

"(E)arly reviews have included the occasional note that the fingerprint scanner's ability to enable iTunes purchases didn't quite work correctly—the iPhone 5S would prompt for a password instead of simply accepting the fingerprint," it noted.

Citing earlier reports, ArsTechnica noted the update was 17.5MB, but it said it noticed a download that was as big as 1.39GB.

A separate article by researcher Graham Cluley said Apple appeared coy with the nature of the update, saying only that it includes “bug fixes and improvements.”

"Of course, it’s quite likely that the update also fixes some other bugs that have been discovered in iOS 7.0 since it rolled out to the masses," he said.

Cluley noted iOS 7 also has other issues, including one concerning a bypass flaw in the iOS 7 lock screen.

"Don’t be surprised if more iOS 7 bug fixes are on their way," he said.  — ELR, GMA News
