App store now open for Pebble smartwatch users

Pebble smart watch users, rejoice! You now have your own one-stop app store where you can download apps and watch faces.

In a blog post, Pebble said the app store is envisioned as the very first "open platform for sharing apps optimized for wearables."

"We’re extremely proud to announce that the Pebble appstore is now live with over 1,000 apps and watchfaces. The appstore is built into the Pebble app on your iOS or Android device, and lets you find, browse and download Pebble apps and watchfaces directly from your smartphone," it said.

Before Tuesday's launch of the app store, Pebble said users had to hunt for apps and watch faces through several third-party resources like MyPebbleFaces.

Now that the new app store has been launched, it said users will now have a "simple one-stop-shop" to "discover, manage, and install apps and watchfaces."

Separate areas

The app store has six app categories: Daily, Tools & Utilities, Notifications, Remotes, Fitness, and Games.

Pebble also said it is actively curating the app store.

Apps for iOS, Android

Pebble rolled out a new app for iOS which includes the Pebble app store. A beta of the Pebble app for Android is now available for developers. — VC/TJD, GMA News
