Google releases factory Android 4.4.4 images for Nexus tablets
Google posted this week factory images of its Android 4.4.4 for selected Nexus mobile devices, a Google enthusiast site reported.
In a blog post, 9to5google.com said the move was "somewhat" surprising as it came not too long after Android 4.4.3 was rolled out.
"Android 4.4.3 was a highly antipciated release that we saw several leaks of, but 4.4.4 comes as a surprise," it said.
It said the files may be downloaded from Google's website.
The files, which carry build number KTU84P, are available for the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 (2012, 2013 Wifi-only models) and Nexus 10, the enthusiast site said.
Security fixes
Citing a report from Android Police, 9to5google said the update appeared to be a security fix for an OpenSSL bug that "allows for easy man-in-the-middle attacks."
"It’s a serious issue and stems from the Heartbleed debacle, which was fixed with 4.4.3," it said. — Joel Locsin/TJD, GMA News
