TMNT: Danger of the Ooze game unveiled

For those disappointed by Michael Bay’s take on everyone’s favorite sewer-surfing mutant reptiles, here’s a balm to soothe those frayed nerves: Activision will be releasing a brand new (and Bay-less) “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” game for the PlayStation3, Xbox 360, and 3DS.

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Danger of the Ooze” is based on the brilliant Nickelodeon animated series, and will be set between season 2 and season 3 of the show. A blend of 2D platforming and fighting and a 3D look inspired by the cartoon, it will feature a “vast, interconnected, non-linear game world, which rewards exploration and creative thinking.”

“The game quickly heats up as Shredder, Tiger Claw, and a new army of mutants threaten the streets of New York, forcing Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo to take action into their own hands,” states Activision.

Players won’t have to choose between Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Donatello, as each hero can be instantaneously swapped with another in-game. Each turtle has unique abilities, strengths, and stats.

Activision has described the combat as “fast-paced.” Players will be able to string together combos, as well as utilize martial arts-style special moves, counters, and finishers. And of course, what’s a game about ninjas without a little stealth?

Wayforward Technologies, which was also behind DuckTales Remastered and Silent Hill: Book of Memories, developed the game.

An official release date has yet to be confirmed, but “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Danger of the Ooze” will be available later this year. — TJD, GMA News
