Google Android 5.0.1 released, reset bug fixed
Google has released the first key update to Lollipop, the latest version of its Android operating system for mobile devices.
The update, Android 5.0.1, contains fixes including one for a bug that causes a phone or tablet running Lollipop to reset, Ars Technica reported.
Citing information from enthusiast site Android Police, the Ars Technica report said the reset bug could cause stray input on the lock screen to wipe the device.
Potentially, this means random hits to the lock screen while the phone is in a bag or pocket could cause Android to count a tap as a wrong attempt, and activate the security lockout to delete everything on the device.
Ars Technica said Android 5.0.1 fixes this by "only recognizing unlock attempts that reach the minimum length of a pattern, which is four dots."
Google also applied this to the PIN unlock screen, the report said.
Other fixes include one for video playback on the 2013 Nexus 7. — Joel Locsin/TJD, GMA News
