Skype releases touch-friendly version for Windows
Microsoft over the weekend rolled out a touch-friendlier version of its app for computers and devices running its Windows operating system.
In a blog post, Microsoft said the Skype 7.0 update also has a compact view for those who want to "pack in" contacts and chats on a screen.
"Users can now scroll, call, and browse using touch! Whether flipping through your chat history or tapping to start a call, it’s easier than ever to use Skype with a touch PC," it said.
The new update also allows communications with Microsoft's Lync to "reach even more colleagues, partners and customers, streamlining communications across both work and life."
But PC World also noted Skype for Windows can talk only to Lync 2013 clients.
"Support for Lync-Skype video calls will be added to Android and iOS over the coming months, Microsoft said. In 2015, when Lync becomes Skype for Business, more support for SkypeIDs and Skype contacts will be added," it added. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
