Google adds real-time spellcheck, editing tools to docs, sheets, slides

People can now better edit documents while on the go, as Google has enhanced ts mobile Docs, Sheets and Slides productivity apps.

Engineering director Jude Flannery said the updates are for devices running Google's Android and Apple's iOS.

"You’ve asked for more editing tools on mobile, so today’s improvements include real-time spell-checking in documents, hiding rows and columns in spreadsheets, and grouping shapes in presentations," Flannery said in a blog post.

Flannery said online security will be a major feature, with two-step verification in place to protect a user's Google account.

Also, Flannery said Google Docs will support Touch ID on iOS, so a user can unlock Docs, Sheets and Slides with a fingerprint.

The apps have also been made friendlier to the blind or those with low vision, with screen-reading services like TalkBack on Android and VoiceOver on iOS to create, edit, and share files in Docs, Sheets and Slides.

Flannery said the updated apps "also respond well to screen magnification, in case you need to zoom in for a closer look." — Joel Locsin/RSJ, GMA News
