Clockwork robots and steampunk style feature in Dishonored 2
By MATTHEW ARCILLA

At their press conference at E3 this week, Bethesda Softworks revealed that they would be following up Dishonored—the critically acclaimed first person stealth game—with a sequel. Word of the game initially slipped when the rehearsals for Bethesda's conference were accidentally streamed as audio on their Twitch channel.
Coming to Playstation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One from Arkane Studios, Dishonored 2 finds the Empire of the Isles in peril once more. Set 15 years after the first game, the Empire has progressed in terms of technology—wind farms and electric pylons replace whale oil as a power source—but remains fraught with plague and urban strife.
According to creative director Harvey Smith, an "otherwordly usurper" has seized the throne, which explains why Emily Kaldwin, the young would be empress from the first game, appears as in this game as a playable character. That's right, in addition to playing as Corvo Attano, the silent protagonist from the first game, players can opt to play as a now adult Emily.
Emily's abilities are showcased in the announcement trailer presented at E3, and she seems to possess a slightly different moveset from Corvo. Whereas Corvo is famed for his ability to possess creatures and teleport across distances, Emily can propel herself forward with tentacles and transform into smoke.
The trailer's focus on Emily leaves no doubt in anyone's mind that she will be an important figure. Hopefully, Chloe Grace Moretz returns to voice her, as it'd be a mistake for action hero Emily to not be voiced by Hit-Girl. The narrator's trailer intones, "It's happened again. Someone's pulled the rug out from under you. An empire at your feet and you've lost it all."
It's a voice familiar to fans of the game as The Outsider, who grants individuals like Corvo (and the assassin Daud) their unique abilities. The back of Emily's hand bears the mark of The Outsider, which must mean he's done the same for Emily . And although Corvo is not seen in the trailer, it's safe to assume that his abilities will remain the same to distinguish him from Emily.
It's not all superhuman abilities in Dishonored though. Players will also continue to employ high tech gadgetry like the auto-reloading crossbow, the retractable sword and arc mines that are on display here. Much like the first game, players can opt for pure stealth as an unseen ghost who leaves no one harmed or wreak havoc as an unrepentant murderer.
"You can play the entire game without killing anyone," Smith said. — TJD, GMA News
