Samsung woos mobile gamers with ‘game recording’ app
First, the good news: Korean electronics giant Samsung is wooing mobile gamers using Android devices with an app that can record their best gaming moments.
The app, dubbed Game Recorder+, allows gamers to "capture (their) game play and face-cam commentary" with the record button.
It can even record game audio directly from the game, avoiding background noise.
But now, the bad news: the Android app works only on Samsung Android phones.
Still, Samsung gave users a peek at the app in a blog post, enumerating its features:
- app can record any games up to full HD 1080p resolution
- users can trim the video after recording.
- users can use the front-facing camera and built-in microphone to record their commentary over the game audio
- users can also upload a profile photo to disable the front camera when recording. The size of the profile image is adjustable.
- touch interactions can be recorded.

Users can also upload their videos directly to YouTube.
"For countries with no access to YouTube, such as China, users can save their videos to a gallery and upload them to other platforms," Samsung said.
It added Galaxy S6 and S6 edge users can record noise-free gaming audio, which disables the microphone.
Meanwhile, “Game Boost" maximizes memory usage and is available on smart devices powered by Android 4.1~5.0 (Jelly Bean, KitKat, Lollipop). — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
