Nolan North hints at The Last of Us  sequel

Following the big gaming event that was the Electronic Entertainment Expo and showcasing a new gameplay demo of their upcoming fourth installment of the Uncharted series, it appears that Naughty Dog’s other popular video game “The Last of Us” is getting a sequel, as Nathan Drake voice actor may have let slip word that a sequel for the survival horror title is indeed in the works.

 

During a recent Q&A panel appearance, North was asked a question if Naughty Dog was doing any other projects besides Uncharted 4, and answered in a surprisingly curious way – “For now, last one. I know they’re doing a Last of Us 2 but my character in Last of Us kind of had an untimely demise.”

The character North is likely referring to is David, a psychopath survivor from a cannibalistic group who obsesses and stalks Ellie during the portion of the game where the player takes control of her. While that character is gone and done, Nolan North is known for being a superb voice talent who can channel different roles and accents, so to see him return in a new role for “The Last of Us 2” isn’t a far-fetched idea. The only question is whether or not the sequel is happening… And maybe we’ll find out eventually when Naughty Dog releases more details in the future.

 

Released two years ago for the Playstation 3, The Last of Us tells the story unlikely duo in Joel and Ellie, who travel through a post-apocaalyptic United States infested with zombie-like creatures infected with the fictional mutated strain of the Cordyceps virus. While the game has a lot of action and adventure typical of a survival horror adventure, it also places heavy emphasis on stealth and “listening in” to the environment in order to evade danger and detection. The game was followed by a single-player downloadable expansion prequel/ side story called “The Last of Us: Left Behind” last year, as well as a remastered edition of the game for the Playstation 4 called “The Last of Us: Remastered”. — TJD, GMA News
