Updated iTunes hits sour note with iCloud library

Now may not be the best time for Apple music lovers to update their iTunes music software: it is hitting a sour note with the iCloud Music Library.

Mashable cited reports by users who said the iTunes bug is scrambling the artists, albums and tracks in their iCloud music libraries.

"After I updated to the new iTunes 12.2, I was asked to enable iCloud Music Library, which is supposed to sync your tracks across your devices. Once it was enabled, iTunes randomized the majority of my roughly 25GB library," Mashable's Ronald Chavez wrote.

Because of this, he recommended that "if you haven't updated iTunes yet, it might be best to avoid doing so until Apple issues a fix."

Chavez said this meant album art did not match music while artists were listed up to seven or eight times.

He added the bug appears to affect mainly those who signed up for iTunes Match or used iTunes Match in the past.

In his case, he said "music not purchased through iTunes was especially scrambled."

Mobile users who set up Apple Music on their iOS devices and enable iCloud Music Library will see their libraries scrambled too.

Chavez said one fix for now may be painstaking - deleting the entire library and adding all songs back via Apple Music.

"But that has an obvious drawback: If you ever stop using Apple Music, you lose all your music," he said.  — Joel Locsin/ELR GMA News
