Fan-made Mega Man game 'Mega Maker' in the works

In what is certainly a true love letter to the series and a dose of retro eye candy, a fan project that gives Mega Man fans the ability to create their own levels and challenges “Super Mario Maker” style is coming this July 15 and looks just as fun as it sounds.

The project is called “Mega Maker”, and allows users to mix their favorite stages, enemies, and bosses from the 8-bit Mega Man games and turn it into something completely tailor-made and original.

Of course while the game is a true labor of love and is dedicated to fans of Mega Man (known as Rockman in Japan) in the world, this is not a licensed product and is not affiliated with the developer and publisher of the series Capcom.

A trailer has been released online to give players an idea of what the project will look like, and it certainly does bring that nostalgia back while giving you an idea of just how much customization can be done to create a Mega Man level of your own design.

As 2017 marks the 30th Anniversary of the series, Mega Man has had a long and impactful history in video games – especially when it comes to the original series that helped catapult the original Nintendo Entertainment System to stardom.

While the first game helped establish the formula of starting at any stage, beating bosses, and gaining their weapons to use in the next battle and discovering their weaknesses, Mega Man 2 released in 1988 is arguably the definitive moment in the series as it featured the most iconic line-up of enemies, stages, and music in the series.
The franchise would see subsequent spin-offs over the years, including the equally popular Mega Man X series, Mega Man ZX, and Mega Man Legends. — TJD, GMA News
