New emojis for 2020 include trans flag, bubble tea, a smiling face with tear and more

The Unicode Consortium capped off January by announcing fun new emojis for 2020.

Among the 117 new symbols soon to roll out across major platforms later this year are the transgender flag, bubble tea icon and one of the biggest moods for 2020 so far, the smiling face with tear emoji.

Over 62 new emojis will be introduced this year, with 55 new gender and skin tone variations. Among the new gender inclusive emojis are a woman in tuxedo, a man in veil and "Mx Claus," a gender-neutral alternative to Santa Claus.

These new emojis are part of the Emoji 13.0 and will come out in most platforms in the second half of 2020, according to Emojipedia.

In the latter half of 2019, Apple also released gender neutral emojis for most of its people icons as part of an update to its mobile operating system.
