UP approves country's first ever master's program in artificial intelligence

The University of the Philippines approved the first ever master's program in artificial intelligence (AI) in the country.

The UP National Engineering Center Analytics and Data Science Certifications announced the development on Wednesday.

A photo of the proposed curriculum showing the stamp and signature of the Board of Regents was also shared on Facebook.

"With the increase in the rate of data production and rising capability to collect the same, the need for expertise to analyze large sizes of data sets become pressing in the future," it read.

"We must not just aim for training programs for professionals in supplying the gaps in need towards this direction but also address the sustainability of the supply of experts and mentors," it added.

Formally established in January 1978, the NEC has served as UP College of Engineering's research and extension arm through the years.
