Southwest Monsoon affecting Southern Luzon, Visayas, will bring rains


The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) is affecting the Southern Luzon and Visayas on Sunday, according to PAGASA.

Zambales, Bataan, the Bicol Region, Mimaropa, Calabarzon, Northern Samar and Western Visayas will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms.

Metro Manila will have cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms.

The rest of Luzon and the whole of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with localized thunderstorms in the afternoon.

Cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms will also be experienced in the rest of Visayas.

Forecast temperatures in key areas are as follows:

  • Laoag: 25ºC-32ºC
  • Tuguegarao: 24ºC-34ºC
  • Baguio: 16ºC-23ºC
  • Olongapo: 25ºC-30ºC
  • Metro Manila: 25ºC-32ºC
  • Tagaytay: 22ºC-27ºC
  • Lipa: 24ºC-31ºC
  • Legazpi: 25ºC-31ºC
  • Puerto Princesa: 24ºC-30ºC
  • Metro Cebu: 24ºC-31ºC
  • Iloilo/Bacolod: 25ºC-30ºC
  • Tacloban: 25ºC-33ºC
  • Cagayan de Oro: 22ºC-34ºC
  • Valencia: 21ºC-29ºC
  • Metro Davao: 27ºC-32ºC
  • Zamboanga: 23ºC-32ºC

 

PAGASA raised a gale warning in the seaboards of western Southern Luzon, western Visayas, eastern Visayas and eastern Mindanao.

These areas will have waves as high as 3 to 4 meters tall and will be dangerous for small seacraft.

Tropical Depression Marilyn weakened into a low pressure area on Saturday night as it exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

As of 2 a.m. Sunday, it was located 1,665 km east northeast of Basco, Batanes.

Meanwhile, the shallow low pressure area located in the West Philippine Sea 535 km west of Iba, Zambales as of 2 a.m. Sunday is outside of the PAR.

It is expected to dissipate in the next few days.
