Rains expected across Philippines due to ITCZ, localized thunderstorms

A rainy weekend may be experienced in the country due to the effects of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), which was affecting Southern Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao, and localized thunderstorms.

In its 24-hour public forecast, state weather bureau PAGASA on Friday said cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms may prevail in the Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and Davao Regions; while partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms may be experienced in Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

Flash floods and landslides may occur in these areas due to the rainfall, PAGASA warned.

Temperatures dropped to a low of 25.6°C at 7:30 a.m., then rose to a high of 34.3°C at 1:30 p.m.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate waters are forecast over the country.

The sun will set at 6:28 p.m. It will rise Saturday at 5:29 a.m. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
