EDSA-Ortigas Interchange now open to light vehicles – DPWH
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) reopened the EDSA-Ortigas Interchange to light vehicles early Monday morning after completing clearing and clean-up operations over the weekend.
The EDSA-Ortigas Interchange was opened to traffic at 4 a.m. of April 27.
In a post on its Facebook page, the DPWH said a strict 20 km/h speed limit shall be enforced on vehicles passing through the interchange.
It added that road safety signs and vertical clearance controls are already in place to guide motorists.
According to GMA News’ James Agustin, authorities also installed a vertical clearance signage to remind motorists that only light vehicles are presently allowed on the EDSA-Ortigas Interchange.
It may be recalled that the interchange was closed down to traffic after a bus on the southbound lane of the EDSA-Ortigas flyover caught fire on Friday night.
The DPWH has also conducted load testing on the interchange, but will continue retrofitting and repair works on affected portions to ensure long-term safety for motorists. — JMA, GMA News
