Class suspensions for Saturday, April 27, 2024


The city government of Manila has suspended face-to-face classes in public schools on Saturday, April 27, 2024, as the heat index was forecast to reach dangerous levels.

In an announcement on Friday, the Manila public information office said the order covered all public schools in the city.

Private schools may follow suit at the discretion of the school administration.

Schools in Manila were advised to shift to "any alternative learning modality."

The city's heat index was predicted hit 44°C on Saturday, the announcement said, based on information from the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office.

Pasay City also announced the suspension of face-to-face classes in all levels in public and private schools on Saturday, April 27, due to the heat index.

The heat index at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City is forecast to hit 43ºC on Saturday, according to PAGASA. —Sherylin Untalan/VDV/KG, GMA Integrated News
