Ashley Ortega says beauty queen role in 'Red Crown' is dream come true

Ashley Ortega said her role in the upcoming pageant film, "Red Crown," fulfilled a dream for her.

In Nelson Canlas' report on "24 Oras Weekend," Sunday, the Sparkle star said one of the roles she has never done before is a beauty queen.

"My mother dreamed of me joining pageants," Ashley said in Filipino. "At least, it finally came true."

Ashley said she had experience joining a beauty pageant before, but only once.

"It was my first and my last," she said. "I was very young at that time, around 15, but I won the crown."

When she began her showbiz career, Ashley said she enjoyed being an actress more.

"Red Crown" is a satirical comedy that brings together some of the country's well-known beauty queens and actresses, including Michelle Dee, Sanya Lopez, and Shuvee Etrata.

It is directed by Dominic Zapata and will premiere in cinemas in October.
