Jennylyn Mercado receives support from Aguila Entertainment CEO following Patrick Garcia's tell-all interview
Jennylyn Mercado received a statement of support from Katrina Aguila, the CEO of her talent agency Aguila Entertainment, following Patrick Garcia's claims about their past relationship.
On Instagram, Katrina shared the agency's official statement in response to Patrick's interview along with photos of her and Jennylyn through the years.
She said she witnessed how Jennylyn worked hard to provide for Jazz as a single mom.
"A lot of you don't know this, but a month after giving birth, Jennylyn immediately went back to work," she said. "She was desperate to earn money for Jazz and her family that she even flew to the States to find work as a singer to different restaurants."
Katrina said Jennylyn was a strong person who persevered even when she was having a hard time.
"Since she was a little girl, she already experienced so many hardships, but despite all that, she was able to survive and be a better person," she said. "She deserves all the love in the world. We love you Jen."
She also said that she learned a lot from Jennylyn, who guided her and protected her during her teenage years.
"She showed me that love shouldn't be taken for granted, that it is supposed to be to shared to those people who matter. To be strong despite all the problems that lay ahead," she said.
"That is why she is and will always be my ate," she added.
In his interview with Ogie Diaz, Patrick denied that he left Jennylyn while she was pregnant with their son Jazz 18 years ago.
"I was never there for Jen during her pregnancy not because I didn't want to be there, because she didn't want me to be there," he said.
The actor said his 13-year-old daughter experienced bashing after beginning idol training under SM Entertainment and urged him to share his side of the story.
"To this day, Jen's words continue to haunt me, as well as my family and my daughter," he said. "People are hating on us too much, and I think it's unfair."
Katrina's mom and Jennylyn's long-time manager, Becky Aguila, slammed Patrick for his statements in the interview.
"On top of all your shortcomings with Jen, especially when it comes to Jazz, you still chose to be interviewed to protect your daughter from bashers at the expense of Jen and Jazz. You seem to have forgotten that she is the mother of your child," Becky said in Filipino on Facebook.
Dennis Trillo, Jennylyn's husband, also posted a short statement on social media after Patrick's interview.
"Hindi ako pabor sa bashing, pero salamat at naalala mo si Jazz dahil sa pag bash sa anak mo," he said.
