Baby Dolls' Johaira says she and Vice Ganda are OK following colorism issue

Johaira of the girl group Baby Dolls said she and Vice Ganda remain in good terms after the colorism issue raised by some "It's Showtime" viewers back in July.

On "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" on Thursday, the artist said she learned a lot from what happened.

"First of all, Meme and I are OK," Johaira said in a mix of Filipino and English.

"Meme, she's like my mother. So it makes me sad that it happened and that it blew up," she added. "I want to clarify that we did not have a problem and we are super OK."

Johaira said she realized that no matter what you say or do, you cannot please everyone.

Vice Ganda apologized on-air after she was criticized by netizens over what they described as a colorist remark involving Johaira on the July 24 episode of "It's Showtime." Some called for greater sensitivity in the jokes and humor.

Vice said the show's intention was never to offend its audience and assured viewers that the hosts had listened to the feedback.

The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) summoned the producers of "It's Showtime" after receiving multiple complaints over the episode.

The notice stated that the allegations raised questions on whether the episode complied with Section 3(c) of Presidential Decree No. 1986, which prohibits television programs that are contrary to law, good customs, public order, public morals, or are otherwise considered objectionable.

The MTRCB also ordered the show to respond to complaints within seven days.

Baby Dolls is a seven-member girl group formed on "It's Showtime." They are known for the song "Oooh Lala Baby," which blew up this year.

The group is holding a concert at the SM North EDSA Skydome on November 8. —Nika Roque/MGP, GMA News
