Vice Ganda apologizes after 'It's Showtime' skit remarks drew flak online

Vice Ganda has issued a public apology to viewers after a remark she made during a recent "It's Showtime" skit sparked criticism online.

During the July 25 episode of the noontime show, Vice addressed the issue on-air, acknowledging that some members of the Madlang People were hurt and offended by jokes made in "It's Showtime," particularly in the show's "Memerimar" segment.

"Nakarating po sa aming kaalaman na may mga Madlang People po na hindi nagustuhan o na-offend sa ilan sa aming jokes o biruan dito sa Showtime pati na rin sa ginagawa namin sa 'Memerimar.'"

Vice said the show's intention was never to offend its audience and assured viewers that the hosts had listened to the feedback.

"They found the jokes offensive or insensitive... the last thing we want is to displease you o hindi mapasaya ang aming Madlang People. Kaya naman ina-acknowledge namin ang inyong saloobin at humihingi po kami ng paumanhin sa inyo and we will try to do better."

The comedian ended the statement by thanking viewers for their continued support.

The apology came after a clip from the "It's Showtime" segment on Friday went viral on social media, as Vice was criticized by netizens over what they described as a colorist remark involving Johaira, a member of the girl group Baby Dolls.
