On Bea Alonzo's vlog, Liza Soberano talks about clout-chasing: ‘Our industry is all about exposure and collaborations’

Liza Soberano said there should be no shame in clout-chasing.

In an episode of Bea Alonzo’s vlog doing a lie detector test challenge, the Kapuso actress asked Liza if she agreed with some netizens who call her a “clout-chaser.”

The 25-year-old bravely answered with a “yes.”

“There’s no shame in clout-chasing," Liza said. "That’s what the industry is."

“That’s what I don’t get actually about the Philippines. Everybody is afraid of social climbing or clout chasing, but our industry is all about exposure and collaboration,” she further explained.

On the other hand, Liza said she loves America for its people having a different mindset about clout-chasing.

“They [Americans] don’t see it as clout chasing. They see it as you getting the bag. They see it as you working hard to achieve your goals,” she said.

“I’m meeting with these international celebrities, and I’m doing that because I want to gain knowledge through them. I use their clout to help myself, and that’s how it should be in the entertainment [industry],” she added.

In the same vlog, Liza shut down rumors that she had an abortion in the US.

"I was in a really good relationship that was accepted by my people. If I did get pregnant, why wouldn't I come forward with it?" she said.

Earlier this month, Liza aired her past frustrations about show business.

A few days after she released her vlog titled “This is Me,” she reintroduced herself as “Hope” in a short film she co-created with a digital banking app. — Hermes Joy Tunac/LA, GMA Integrated News
