Matteo Guidicelli says taping for 'Black Rider' feels like transferring to a new school

Matteo Guidicelli has been in the showbiz industry for a while, but taping for his new show “Black Rider” was quite an experience for the actor.

"Black Rider" is Matteo's first teleserye under GMA Network, and he compared it to transferring to a new school given the introductions and getting to know people on set.

“But it's a good and nice school. Everybody's very nice in the school,” Matteo said in an interview on “Surprise Guest with Pia Arcangel.”

Matteo added that he got to know the cast and team better, and said that being on set is a joyful experience.

“I'm very happy na kasama natin si Ruru and all these other guys, and make everything so much lighter and so much nicer kumbaga,” he said.

Matteo also called series director Rommel Penesa a “very nice man.”

“Obviously, there's [a] lot of pros and cons, challenges here and there, but at the end of the day, what's important is a positive set and a set that moves forward and a good director that can guide us and lead us,” he said.

“Ang bait nila lahat. Yung mga EPs, APs, PAs—lahat, they are very, very nice,” he added. “You know, it's the same set, it's a set, it's a shooting set, etc., but the people, the vibe is just different.”

But despite the unavoidable challenges, the “Unang Hirit” host said that it is part of the thrill of working on a new project.

“When you're taping, when you're on location, you know, it comes with different challenges, [different] conflicts here and there, but I guess it's part of work,” Matteo said.

“It's part of the excitement of showbusiness and excitement of [being] in [a] teleserye set kumbaga,” he added.

With these experiences, Matteo said he is “very thankful [sa] GMA for opening their doors here.”

Matteo plays Paeng Policarpio, the childhood best friend of Elias Guerrero, played by Ruru Madrid. They both grew up with simple lives in Cebu before moving to Manila. Elias ends up working as a food delivery rider, whereas Paeng is a police officer who follows his dad’s career footsteps.

Paeng is the one who helps and defends Elias, whose bad boy attitude often gets him into street brawls.

Then when a tragedy happens to Elias’ family, Paeng is the one in charge of solving the case.

Joining the star-studded cast are Kylie Padilla, Yassi Pressman, Matteo Guidicelli, Carla Abellana, Katrina Halili, Isko Moreno, Joaquin Domagoso, Shanti Dope, Rainier Castillo, Jayson Gainza, Empoy, Zoren Legaspi, Raymart Santiago, Gary Estrada, Monsour Del Rosario, Roi Vinzon, Kier Legaspi, Raymond Bagatsing, Joem Bascon, Gladys Reyes, Arra San Agustin, Almira Muhlach, Maureen Larrazabal, Rio Locsin, and many more.

The action-packed series is premiering on November 6 at 8 p.m. on GMA Telebabad, GTV, and GMA Public Affairs' Facebook and YouTube livestreams. —Nika Roque/JCB,GMA Integrated News
