Vice Ganda clarifies she's OK with being called 'sir'
Vice Ganda has clarified that she is okay with being called “sir.”
In Tuesday's episode of “It’s Showtime,” Vice, Vhong Navarro, and Jhong Hilario talked to a contestant about the story of his name during the Laro Laro Pick segment. The contestant called Vice Ganda “sir” as he told his story.
Vice was unfazed by this and later issued a clarification.
“For once and for all, let’s normalize me being called ‘sir.’ I’m okay with ‘sir.’”
She added, “Para hindi na siya ginagawang katatawanan ‘yung pagtawag sa ‘kin ng sir kasi okay lang naman sa ‘kin ang ‘sir.’ Normal lang ‘yun.”
Vice Ganda also said she is okay with being called “ma’am.”
In a 2021 episode of “It’s Showtime,” Vice Ganda said that she identifies as non-binary. She said that she would not be offended if she were addressed as “he” or “she.”
“It’s Showtime” made a splashy debut when GMA's GTV first aired the show in July 2023.
In April 2024, "It's Showtime" started airing on both GTV and the GMA main channel. —Nika Roque/JCB, GMA Integrated News
