Bianca Umali 'slowly getting back into the groove' after recent health scare
Bianca Umali revealed that she recently dealt with health scares that made her pause, reflect, and reassess her priorities, particularly when it comes to her well-being.
On Facebook, the Sparkle star shared a set of black-and-white photos: a close-up of her arm with an IV line taped in place, a photo of her resting in bed with an eye cover on, and another image showing several medicines laid out together.
“This is how my 2026 started - with health scares that stopped me in my tracks and quietly opened my eyes in ways nothing else ever could,” Bianca wrote in the caption.
While she chose not to go into full detail, the actress explained that the experience changed how she views her health and the way she moves forward.
“What is important is this: I am well. I am better. And I’m slowly getting back into the groove. I am reminded by how easily we take our health for granted. I’ve always been a workaholic - someone who loves what she does, who shows up fully, who pushes through and keeps going even when the body is quietly asking for rest,” she said.
Over time, she said the fast pace of work, along with personal responsibilities she rarely speaks about, caught up with her and became a major factor in her health decline, even affecting her eating habits.
“I realized how good I am at taking care of the people around me - showing up, worrying, loving deeply - while often forgetting to take care of myself. Somewhere along the way, I learned to be strong for everyone else, but not always gentle with my own body and mind.”
Now on the road to recovery, the actress said that she is working on becoming stronger again, not only for herself but also for the people she loves.
She added that her healing journey taught her that rest is not a weakness, listening to the body is not laziness, and choosing oneself is not selfish.
“So this year, I’m making a promise to myself: I will take good care of my health. I will listen sooner. I will slow down when needed. And I will remember that health should always be at the top of all priorities. To anyone reading this - please take care of yourself too. Check in. Rest when your body asks you to. Choose what nourishes you. Because truly, health is wealth,” she said.
She ended her post by thanking her boyfriend, Ruru Madrid, and her sister, Jana, for taking extra care of her during her recovery.
