DOT lauds BINI, Katseye's Sophia Laforteza for historic Coachella performances
The Department of Tourism (DOT) congratulated P-pop group BINI and Sophia Laforteza of Katseye for bringing Filipino talent to Coachella, one of the world’s most influential music festivals.
On Facebook, DOT highlighted BINI’s milestone as the first P-pop group to perform at the desert festival.
“As the first Filipino act to perform at Coachella, Bini delivered an electrifying 45-minute, 10-song set that drew global attention,” DOT wrote.
The Tourism department also underscored the broader cultural impact of the performances, saying, “Your performances showcased not just world-class talent, but the vibrant spirit, creativity, and identity of the Filipino people.”
“Together with Sophia’s appearance, this moment highlights the rising global influence of Filipino music and talent,” the statement read.
“We celebrate this milestone and look forward to your continued success as you inspire future generations and elevate the Philippines on the world stage,” it added.
After Coachella, Bini will perform at the Grammy Museum for Grammy Studios' "Global Spine Live!" series on April 21 (April 22 in the Philippines). —Hermes Joy Tunac/KG, GMA News
