Sue Prado's sister reveals actress' cause of death
Sue Prado died of cardiac arrest, her older sister Guia Antonette “Annie” Mera said at her wake last Friday.
“Wala akong alam na iniinda niya pero alam naman natin, kapagka sakit sa puso, napakatraydor, e!” She reportedly told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal).
“Ito yung napaka-fatal siguro," Annie added.
Sue died on April 14, their younger sister May Shereen announced on Facebook. She was only 44 years old.
“Sue brought light in anyone’s path throughout her life. “A life lived for others, for the craft she nourished and for those whom she loved most," May said in her announcement.
A hardworking and prolific indie film artist, Sue was best known for her performances in Philippine New Wave films, including the 2013 movies “Oro” and “Barber’s Tales,” among other roles in Philippine film, television, and theater.
She was as constant fixture in GMA shows including 2022's "Bolera," 2025's "Princesa ng City Jail," and "Abot Kamay na Pangarap" and was credited in movies like "Balota," “Kantil,” “Your Mother’s Son,” and “Manila Skies,” and more.
In PEP.ph's report, Annie shared that Sue didn't want a big ceremony for her farewell.
“Sa mga kuwentuhan naming magkakapatid, may mga bilin na siya. Na wala nang seremonyas. Wala nang eulogy. Kung puwedeng lata ng biscuit, lata ng ano, doon na lang. Mga ganun. Ayaw na nga niyang ipaalam — diretsong cremation, diretsong libing," she said, adding Sue only informed entertainment personality Neil Daza about wanting a "pinakamurang urn.’”
Sue's wake will only be until 5pm today, Monday April 20. Her remains will be placed beside her father at Loyala Marikina on Tuesday, Annie said. — LA, GMA News
