Sharon Cuneta on working with Barbie Forteza in 'Honor Thy Mother': 'What an opportunity'

Sharon Cuneta is looking forward to working with Barbie Forteza in “Honor Thy Mother.”

In Nelson Canlas’ report on “24 Oras” on Friday, the Megastar can’t help but feel excited about the collaboration project between GMA Network and ABS-CBN, which will be produced by Dreamscape Entertainment.

“I got excited. But first it was really the story that was presented to me and it was over Zoom. So meeting sila, they were all in the conference room and there was a presentation like slides in it. So I was impressed, I like the story. Tapos nalaman kong si Barbie [Forteza], what an opportunity!” she said.

Sharon also said that she is proud to be part of such a big project.

“I have to say also 'di ba ABS-CBN, GMA-7, Dreamscape. So it’s really a big project I’m very proud to be a part of," she added.

Meanwhile, for Barbie, working with Sharon is a “dream come true” because the veteran actress was one of her inspirations why she entered showbiz.

“Kaya nako, learn from me. Dream big kasi mangyayari at mangyayari ‘yan basta pursigido ka,” she said.

According to the Kapuso Primetime Princess, the story will revolve around their relationship as mother and daughter.

“The story will revolve around our dynamics as mother and daughter, but this is your not typical mother-daughter story kasi hindi kami magkasundo. So there will be a lot of drama, a lot of hatred, a lot of anger, a lot of pain,” she shared.

Aside from Barbie and Sharon, the series will also star John Estrada, Tonton Gutierrez, RK Bagasting, Mercedes Cabral, Khalil Ramos, and many more.

In an interview with Khalil, the actor said everything is still surreal for him.

“Unang-una, it’s been three years since my last series that I really worked on and to be here with such a powerhouse, some of the actors that I just really look up to throughout my entire career and finally here being able to work with them.”

A Prime Video original series, "Honor Thy Mother" is a story of family conflict and the complexities of relationships. The project was first revealed by the streaming service in April at a launch event.

In 2023, Barbie portrayed Monique in the television remake of "Maging Sino Ka Man," a role originally brought to life by Sharon in the 1991 film.

Barbie most recently starred in the horror movie "P77," which is also available on Prime Video.
