BGYO's JL Toreliza says fellow members are 'super proud' over his 'The Clash Teens' panel stint
BGYO member JL Toreliza shared his excitement as well as his fellow members’ proud reaction after becoming part of “The Clash Teens” panel.
At Tuesday’s media conference for the upcoming season, JL recalled he first learned the news through a message from his team while he was resting.
“Unang sinabi sa akin ‘to sa Viber. So syempre nakahiga lang ako no’n. Hindi pa ako, like, makasigaw, makatalon. Parang mas more on sa utak ko. Sobrang excited ako kasi bago siya sa akin. Sobrang excited ako,” he said.
[I was first told of the opportunity on Viber. I was lying down, resting. I couldn't jump or shout. It was more in my mind. I was so excited because this is new. I'm so excited.]JL also said his fellow BGYO members were quick to show their support when they learned about his latest role.
“Nung nalaman ng mga kagrupo ko, ramdam ko naman na super proud sila,” he said before joking, “Masasabi ko ‘yung pagiging judgmental ko may narating din.”
[When they learned about it, I easily felt they were super proud of me. My being judgemental finally got me somewhere]Beyond the excitement, JL reflected on how his experience as a contestant on “The Clash” Season 1 shaped the way he hopes to guide this season’s teen singers.
“Bilang isang Clasher noong Season 1, tanda ko, sobrang hilaw pa ako. As in, first time ko sumali sa singing contest. So, grabe pa ako kabahan. ‘Yung takot ko. ‘Yung confidence ko, wala pa,” he said.
[I remember, being a Clasher during Season 1, I was so raw. It was the first time I joined a singing contest. I was a nervous wreck. I didn't have any confidence yet.]Because of this, JL said he wants to use what he learned to mentor contestants and help them grow.
“Gusto kong maging inspiration sa kanila para sa mga susunod na performances ng mga teen Clashers,” he said. “Gusto ko ma-share kung ano ‘yung na-experience ko before, kung ano ‘yung mga routine ko bago sumalang, like paano mawala ‘yung kaba, ‘yung takot, and sa pagpili din ng mga songs. And gusto ko sabihin sa kanila na maging totoo lang sila sa sarili nila.”
[I want to be an inspiration to them, for the succeeding performances of the teen Clashers. I want to be able to share my experiences, what I do before taking on the stage, how to become more confident, as well as how to choose songs. I want to tell them that they just need to be true to themselves]JL joins Christian Bautista and Jillian Ward on the judging panel.
Meanwhile, Julie Anne San Jose and Rayver Cruz will return as Clash Masters.
