Neil Ryan Sese on playing closeted boxer on 'Kamao': 'Kinakailangan 'di siya maging stereotype'
Neil Ryan Sese opened up about his "Kamao" character Nonoy, a closeted LGBT+ boxer.
In the new Kapuso action drama series, Nonoy is the father of Makmak, who is played by lead star Anton Vinzon.
In Aubrey Carampel's report on "24 Oras," Tuesday, Neil said that creating his character is a collaboration with series director, LA Madridejos.
"May usapan kami na 'pag ganitong character 'yung kausap namin, magiging lalaki ako. Pero 'pag 'yung lover, medyo magiging malambot ako, so may ganun siyang dynamics," he said.
"At the same time, nag-usap kami na kinakailangan 'di siya maging stereotype or caricature na bakla. So kailangan totoong tao siya, may puso, lumalaban, at humihingi ng respeto," he added.
Meanwhile, Anton praised his on-screen father for his acting skills.
Anton also thanked his father Roi Vinzon, who is also part of the series and watches over him as he does his action scenes.
