Zephanie reacts to public clamor to turn fictional girl group Yumi into a real-life band, comparisons with BINI

Can Yumi from the Kapuso show “Born to Shine” be turned into a P-Pop group outside of the show?

Lead star Zephanie admitted on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” Thursday that the cast sees the online comments wanting Yumi to be a real P-Pop group.

“I think it’s a big dream for us na magka-totoo talaga and kung mabibigyan ng chance, parang gusto po talaga naming Yumi in real life,” Zephanie said.

When asked if she is open to being in a group while also having a thriving solo career, Zephanie was game.

“Ang saya po siguro nun Tito Boy na meron kang hindi naman ibang personality, pero sa ibang universe, I’m Yumi Jeni talaga. So parang alter ego,” the singer-actress said.

Olive May, who stars in the show as Yumi Megan, added she is amazed that the girl group has real chemistry despite their short time together.

Meanwhile, the girls also reacted to being compared to the Nation’s Girl Group, BINI.

“It’s an honor,” Olive said. “We really look up to BINI po talaga kasi they’re such amazing performers po talaga.”

“And masaya po kami na we get tagged alongside BINI kasi idol po talaga namin,” Olive added.

Zephanie is also in awe at how Yumi is only a fictional girl group, but is seen by the public as “kaya naming lumaban. Parang, let’s go, Yumi.”

“Born to Shine” airs on GMA Afternoon Prime on Mondays to Saturdays at 2:30 p.m. — LA, GMA News
