'The Clash Teens' finalist Beza Trestiza finds family, faith, inspiration in competition journey

For young aspiring singer Beza Trestiza, joining “The Clash Teens” is more than simply showcasing her vocal talent on a national stage.

According to Trestiza said the experience has also taught her valuable life lessons about friendship, gratitude, faith and perseverance.

As the 16-year-old advances to the Top 12 finalists, she reflected on her journey and the meaningful relationships she developed throughout the competition.

“Well, yes, ‘The Clash Teens’ is a competition,” Trestiza said told GMA News Online in an interview. “But grabe din po kasi yung nabuo naming bonds.”

“I realized that even if it's a competition, may family ka rin pong mabubuo dito. Friendship po talaga, and it's really genuine,” she said, as she shared how contestants would support one another behind the scenes, creating a sense of camaraderie that felt more like a family than a contest.

The experience challenged the common notion that contestants in talent competitions are solely focused on winning, Trestiza continued, saying, “Yung natutunan ko po is even though it is a competition, you would still care for one another po sa loob ng competition."

The singer's journey reached another milestone when she secured a place in the Top 12 finalists, an achievement she described as both surprising and humbling.

Trestiza admitted she never expected to advance this far in the competition and remains grateful for every opportunity she has received.

“Well, super unexpected po,” she said. “And I really appreciate na ipinagkaloob pa po ako na makapasok sa Top 12.”

Making it into the Top 24 contestants had already felt like a major accomplishment. Advancing even further, she said, was something she considers an even greater blessing.

“Getting in the Top 24 was already a big blessing. Pero being able to get the spot para maging Top 12 is another huge blessing po talaga,” she said.

The young performer attributed her success to God's guidance and emphasized the importance of remaining thankful throughout the competition.

“Super kailangan mo po talaga ipag-thank si Lord,” she added.

While viewers often remember the dazzling performances and dramatic eliminations that take place on stage, Trestiza revealed that some of her favorite memories happened away from the spotlight.

Asked about her fondest experience during the competition, she recalled a simple but unforgettable moment spent with her fellow contestants in their blue room.

“Besides the performances, which were nerve-wracking, yung pinakafond memory ko po talaga is yung kompleto pa po kami,” she said.

One particular memory stood out among the rest: the contestants being together without their mobile phones, allowing them to focus entirely on each other's company.

“Yung nakulong po kami sa blue room namin without any cellphones,” she said with a laugh.

Away from social media and outside distractions, they were able to create memories that she says she will cherish long after the show ends.

As the competition continues, Trestiza remains focused on improving as an artist while staying grounded in her values.

Although winning would be a dream come true, she said she hopes to use any success she achieves to inspire others.

When asked what she would do if she emerged as the winner of “The Clash Teens,” Trestiza initially joked that she would be proud of the accomplishment.

However, she quickly emphasized that her main goal would be to encourage others to believe in themselves and pursue their dreams.

“Pag ako naging winner, I would share it with other people to inspire them,” she said.

She hopes her story will serve as proof that determination, faith and hard work can help people overcome challenges and achieve what may seem impossible.

“Nothing is impossible and everything is possible with Christ,” Trestiza said. — LA, GMA News
