Dingdong Dantes says Jennylyn Mercado's role in 'The Master Cutter' has ties to Ibyang

Dingdong Dantes said Jennylyn Mercado has a special role in her guest appearance on "The Master Cutter."

According to Aubrey Carampel's report on "24 Oras" on Tuesday, Jennylyn will play a character named Olga.

Dingdong said their first scene together was "very light."

"Magaan lang tapos may konting comedy," the actor said. "Naalala namin 'yung mga pagkakataon na magkasama kami sa 'Descendants of the Sun,'" the actor said.

"Super duper special role. Napakahalaga ng role ni Jennylyn Mercado dito sa 'The Master Cutter,'" Dingdong added. "Clue? May kinalaman siya sa buhay ni Ibyang."

Ibyang, the character played by Sienna Stevens, is an orphan girl looking for her parents.

Dingdong also shared an Instagram post welcoming Jennylyn to Barangay Tabang Lupa.

Meanwhile, Jennylyn said she is happy to reunite with Dingdong on a show after six years.

"Ang huli namin 'Descendants of the Sun' pa. Sabi ko, kailan ko ulit makakatrabaho si Dong pagkatapos nun 'di ba. Ano ba 'yung chance na puwede ko ulit siya makasama, so ito na 'yun," the actress said.

"Espesyal siya at napaka importante nung character na 'yun," Jennylyn added. "Abangan nila."

"The Master Cutter" is Dingdong's return to primetime since starring in "Royal Blood" in 2023. It airs weeknights on GMA Prime at 8 p.m. after "24 Oras." It is also streaming on Netflix. —Nika Roque/MGP, GMA News
