Alden Richards to champion education advocacy in 'Rebuilding Broken Rooms' docu

Alden Richards is set to champion his advocacy in education as host of the GMA Public Affairs documentary, “Rebuilding Broken Rooms."

According to Aubrey Carampel’s report on “24 Oras” on Wednesday, the documentary will focus on the state of education in the Philippines, which is also an advocacy Alden supports.

“I hope with this documentary, many people’s eyes would be opened, many would be inspired that this is the current situation of the educational system here in the Philippines and it's not doing really good," he said in Filipino.

Alden also visited several schools where he saw the situation of Filipino students.

“Education should be a priority in this country. Education must not be neglected by the people in power,” he said.

“Rebuilding Broken Rooms” will premiere on GMA Network soon.

Meanwhile, in Alden's upcoming medical drama series "Code Grey,” he collaborated with the creative team to develop his character.

“I asked, 'How are we gonna make this different? What is the trademark of Greyson Lazaro that when audiences watch the show, they will see what sticks, like ‘That’s Greyson in 'Code Grey?' We can't wait for you guys to see it," he shared.

Aside from these career milestones, Alden also marked a personal win by recently moving into his dream home.

“This is a home that I can call my own because before, I prioritized my family’s. I think I'm able to give them a comfortable life already, so it’s my turn," he said.

“So with this house, I'm just really proud. At least it validates all the hard work, and it inspires me to go further still.”

Alden currently stars in the series “Love, Siargao” opposite Nadine Lustre. It airs every Friday and Saturday at 6 p.m. on Viu Philippines

He is also part of the historical film, “Liwanag at Dilim," which follows the life of Emilio Jacinto, known as the brains behind the Katipunan. —Nika Roque/CDC, GMA News
