Pokwang fulfills longtime dream of performing in theater with 'Tulog Na' musical

Pokwang finally turned one of her longtime dreams into reality as she made her theater debut in the musical "Tulog Na."

In Aubrey Carampel's report on "24 Oras" on Tuesday, the comedienne revealed that she had always dreamed of performing on stage.

"Theater has always been my dream," she said in Filipino.

She added that her admiration for theater was inspired by fellow actress and close friend Eugene Domingo, whom she considers her idol.

Pokwang said Eugene recently congratulated her on her achievements in both film and theater.

"Uge actually messaged me and said, 'I'm happy with what's happening to you, sis, in movies and theater.' I told her, 'Sis, we're both winning. Our industry is thriving—in theater and in film. It's wonderful,'" she said.

According to Studio A Productions, "Tulog Na" tells a "story that whispers tales of living life to the fullest before the night falls." It also features Sugarfree's song "Tulog Na."

The musical first ran from August 14 to 16 and will also run from August 21 to 23 at the Powermac Center Spotlight Blackbox Theater in Makati City.

Pokwang recently won the Cinemalaya Best Actress plum for her performance in "2 Valid IDs." She shared the trophy with Ruby Ruiz, who was recognized for her work in "Status: Rejected. —Jade Veronique Yap/MGP, GMA News
