Pokwang, Ruby Ruiz tie for Cinemalaya Best Actress

Pokwang and Ruby Ruiz shared this year's Cinemalaya trophy for Best Actress in a Leading Role.

Pokwang, under her real name Marietta Subong, won for her role in "Two Valid IDs," while Ruby won for "Status: Rejected."

Pokwang thanked her parents during her acceptance speech and everyone part of the film festival. She also thanked the whole team of "Two Valid IDs."

"To everyone who watched, I know life is difficult these days, we have to be thrifty, but you are here, you supported us, you proved that Filipinos can," she said in Filipino.

Pokwang also has a message to all the Sylvias, and all the Filipinos.

"Don't lose hope, keep fighting," she said.

Meanwhile, Ruby said the Balanghay trophy is so important and it comes with a lot of hard work.

"Status: Accepted!" she said during her speech.

"2 Valid IDs" also won the Audience Choice Award and Special Jury Prize, while "Status: Rejected" won the Netpac Jury Award. —MGP, GMA News
