Robin Williams' daughter Zelda quits Twitter after getting abusive messages
By MARISSE PANALIGAN, GMA News
Following the death of Robin Williams, his daughter Zelda Williams quit Twitter after receiving hurtful comments and images of her father.
Zelda initially tried to report the users sending her abusive messages in an emotional tweet, before later deleting the post.
She later tweeted that she had decided to delete Twitter from her devices "for a good long time, maybe forever."
Zelda initially used the microblogging site to thank her father's fans for their donations to St. Jude's, Robin's favorite charity.
Her Instagram account, in which she paid tribute to her father with a quote from The Little Prince, is still active until she decides what to do with it.
"In this difficult time, please try to be respectful of the accounts of myself, my family and my friends," she said in Instagram. "Mining our accounts for photos of dad, or judging me on the number of them is cruel and unnecessary."
Zelda expressed relief that her favorite photos with her father are framed in her home and not posted in social media.
"They would’ve wound up on the news or blogs then, and they certainly would now. That’s not what I want for our memories together."
Robin Williams was found dead at his home in California on Monday. The police later confirmed that the actor-comedian took his own life. — JST, GMA News
