Ji Soo to enlist in military this year amid school bullying controversy
Korean actor Ji Soo, who was recently removed from his drama following allegations of school violence, is reportedly set to enlist in the military later this year.
According to Soompi, a source from his agency Keyeast said he “received his draft notice last December” and clarified it was “unrelated to the recent controversy.”
The source also said Ji Soo is expected to serve not as an active duty soldier, but as a public server in October.
According to the report, the actor had undergone surgery for acute osteomyelitis in 2016.
Ji Soo made headlines earlier this month after he was accused of being a perpetrator of school violence while attending middle school.
The Korean actor issued a hand-writtten apology wherein he opened up about his misconduct in the past and sought forgiveness from the people affected by his actions.
As a result of the controversy, Ji Soo was removed from his ongoing drama “River Where the Moon Rises,” in which he plays the male lead. —Margaret Claire Layug/JCB, GMA News
