Song Joong Ki has an opinion about the way 'Vincenzo' villains were punished

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

Does lead star Song Joong Ki think villains of hit K-drama "Vincenzo" were punished too violently?

"People were divided on whether it was too violent or not. [Even while filming], I thought, ‘People will have mixed opinions.’ Personally, I didn’t think it was cruel," he said in an interview report on Soompi.

Joong Ki said, "On the contrary, I thought we needed to go stronger on them."

The Korean actor said he thinks "heinous people like should be punished that way. "

"I think that the characters who committed evil were punished righteously," he added.

In the last episode of "the Netflix drama," Vincenzo brutally kills Choi Myung Hee (Kim Yeo Jin) and Jang Han Seok (2PM's Taecyeon).

Joong Ki thinks, "the events that take place in ‘Vincenzo’ are close to reality, while the character Vincenzo is the only surreal part."

"There are so many bad people in real life. The writer used a lot of those people as reference, so there were many cathartic scenes," he added.

"Vincenzo" dropped its last episode on Sunday, with much fanfare. It topped Twitter trends well ahead of the drop and managed to get into the top 10 highest ratings in tvN history.

For portraying Vincenzo, Joong Ki has been nominated for best actory in the Baeksang Arts Awards ceremony, which he will be attending.

"I’m thankful that I was nominated, but I will go enjoy the ceremony. I’m focusing more on ‘Vincenzo’ director Kim Hee Won’s nomination for Best Director," he said.

According to Soompi, the 57th Baeksang Arts Awards will be broadcasted live on May 13 at 9 p.m. KST via JTBC without an audience due to COVID-19.
