‘Squid Game’ gets 3 nominations for 2022 Golden Globe Awards


Squid Game has received three nominations for the 79th Annual Golden Globe Awards!

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced the nominees on Dec. 13 at Beverly Hilton in California.

Lee Jung Jae, who played Seong Gi Hun or Player 456, is nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series, Drama, alongside Brian Cox and Jeremy Strong (“Succession”), Billy Porter, (“Pose”), and Omar Sy (“Lupin”).

O Yeong Su, who played Oh Il-nam or Player 1, will be vying for the Best Supporting Actor, Television award together with Billy Crudup and Mark Duplass (“The Morning Show”), Kieran Culkin (“Succession”), and Brett Goldstein (“Ted Lasso”).

“Squid Game,” meanwhile, will be competing in the Best Television Series Drama category alongside “Pose,” “The Morning Show,” “Succession” and “Lupin.”

According to Korea Dispatch, “Squid Game” is the first Korean series to be nominated at the Golden Globes.

The hit series recently took home “The Bingeworthy Show of 2021” title at the People’s Choice Awards, while its director Hwang Dong Hyuk was included on Bloomberg’s top 50 list this year.

The show about poor people playing deadly versions of children’s games to win a fortune has become Netflix’s biggest show.
