Ariana Grande is embracing cinematic storytelling in the music video for “Hate That I Made You Love Me,” a track from her upcoming album “Petals.”

On YouTube, Ariana released the five-minute music video, where she stars opposite Justin Long. In the MV, Justin’s character desperately tries to bury Ariana’s memory, but his efforts are quite unsuccessful.

Over a series of eerie moments, Ariana continues to haunt Justin by appearing in his car mirrors, at a restaurant, and nearly everywhere he goes.

In one final attempt to leave the past behind, Justin tries to burn everything that reminds him of Ariana. However, along with the memories, he ends up getting burned himself.

Toward the end of the video, Justin returns to a grave site and finds himself trapped at the bottom of a hole, with Ariana standing above him.

In an earlier report, the “Wicked” star said “Hate That I Made You Love Me” is one of her favorite songs that she has ever written.

Ariana is set to release “Petal,” her eighth studio album, on July 31.

She is also set to star in the film “Focker-in-Law,” slated for a November release. —Hermes Joy Tunac/JCB, GMA News
